Lost in the Night

Hello, everyone!
It`s wonderful to be here again. Today I`d like to share a funny family story with you. I hope you`ll enjoy it! Below you can also see a PowerPoint Presentation, which I made for my speech.

Lost in the Night
Do you remember a famous Russian song which goes like that: “Fathers can do anything except being a Mother”?  Indeed, things get interesting when babies are left alone with their dads. Just look at these photos!
·        Dads give their kids more freedom
·        Dads don`t think about healthy diet, they share the most delicious food with you
·        Dads never miss the opportunity to have fun… and organize most amusing activities for you
·        Sometimes it looks as if they just don`t care
These pictures show that Mums and Dads simply have different parenting style. Mums usually have everything under control: their children are clean and safe; they eat, play and sleep according to the precise schedule. Whereas Dads really do live by their own rules. They honestly try to perform their parental duty, but in a very relaxed and natural way.
A funny story happened in my family. You can guess it`s about my Dad and me. It happened many years ago when I was a small child of no more than 2 years. It was a freezing cold winter. It was late and dark. My parents and I were coming back home after a family meeting with my grandparents. There was no public transport in sight, but my father was clever enough to use a sledge for transporting me. You know this old Russian traditionJ
I was all wrapped in warm winter clothes, there is no picture of mine in such an outfit, but I can show you how it looked like. I`m not sure whether I was sleeping, but I was very quiet and didn`t make a sound. I guess my father was very cold, so he was running very fast to reach the destination. Really fast! As he was pulling the sledge uphill, I rolled off the sledge to the snow. You may ask me what is funny about that? The thing is my Dad didn`t notice any difference! He kept running and I think he was even able to do it faster, as the sledge wasn`t heavy anymore. I was left lying on the ground. My destiny was obscure…
Do you think my father came back, looking for me? No! My Mum got about a hundred steps behind, as she couldn`t catch up with my Dad. Just imagine how surprised she was, when she saw her child lying all alone on the snow! Don`t forget that it was dark and I was hardly seen! So, lucky me to have such an attentive mother. My father was also very surprised when he came home with an empty sledge!

I`m not angry with him at all, he tried hard to deliver me home as fast as he could. This funny episode became one of our favourite family stories. We always laugh when we think about it. I`m grateful to my parents, because they`re a perfect match: strong and energetic Dad and protective and caring Mum!
