Researching the Topic
Hello!
Last week we discussed how we should prepare our speeches in order to make them as convincing and inspiring as possible. I found out that careful researching of the topic of your future speech is essential if you want to succeed. That`s why I have to pay much attention to different resources and methods of researching. Our task for today is to write a plan of 5 steps we would take in researching the topic of our future speech. We` re going to have persuasive speeches in a few months. I`ve already thought about the subject for my future persuasive speech. I`d like to tell people about the importance of art in our life. This topic is very close and important for me. I`d like to share my plan of researching this topic with you. Here it is:
1. Brainstorm what I already know and make a mind-map of these ideas. I`ll do this to be clear about exactly what I`m already aware of and to be able to identify the gaps in my knowledge. This will help me not to waste time and to understand what I need to learn about the topic.
2. Watch some of the pre-recorded TED Talks which are connected to my topic. I need this for inspiration from other researches and public speakers. Here are the useful links:
3. Research using technology, for example, social media, apps, computer/video games. I need this to receive up-to-date information.
4. To conduct a survey among my groupmates to find out the role of art in their lives. Also this servey will help me to identify their level of basic knowledge in the field of art.
5. Visit the Novosibirsk Art Museum to find out what interesting education programmes it offers to people. Make a list of events that can be useful and interesting to visit for my groupmates.
