Challenging Task №5
Hello again!
Step by step I continue to overcome my little fears and doubts about myself. By this very moment I`ve already completed 5 tasks! Can you believe that? It`s the middle of my 10 steps list, so I`m very close to the finish)) My challenging № 5 task for this week was to ask a person in the street for a mobile phone or some money. When I created my List of Frightening Behaviours, I tried to include only very practical and useful steps in it. One of the most important aims of this list is to make my everyday life easier and more convenient for me.
There are situations when we really need help from strangers. You may lose your mobile phone or a pickpocket may steal your wallet with all your money. Actually, it happened to me in my childhood. When I was 12 or 13 years old, somebody stole my mobile phone in a bus. Then it seemed like the end of the world to me, I was crying like crazy)) So, I asked a woman in the bus for a mobile phone to call my Mum and to tell her about my problem. I remember that it wasn`t scary at all, maybe because I was shocked and upset, and just didn`t care. But now asking a stranger for a mobile phone or money isn`t easy for me. Especially for money - people may think that you are a fraud or something of the kind... Very embarrassing((
So, for this challenge I decided to ask a person in the street for a mobile phone, not for money. Asking for money seems impossible for me((

This task was really difficult!!
At first I asked a middle-aged woman. I was like, "I`m so sorry, can you give me your mobile phone to make a short phone call? Mine is out of charge (I showed her my phone which was switched off) It`s very, very important!" She looked at me in a very strange way and answered something like, "Sorry, I can`t, I`m in a hurry". It was soooo embarrassing! She must have thought that I lied to her... It really upset me. I wanted to go away, but finally decided to try again. My next attempt was with a young man) And it was successful)) He gave me his mobile phone without any problems, I called my friend and pretended that she was a very important person from my work and I have to cancel our meeting) Then I said thank you to that guy and walked away. He was like, "You are welcome". It was no problem at all for him! Now I wonder if the reaction to my request depends on the person`s gender or not) It`s really funny)) Perhaps, men are kinder and more understanding than women. Or maybe that guy felt like he had a chance to help a woman - I don`t know) But I have a strange feeling after doing this task. It was probably the hardest one out of all five. I think that we should get rid of prejudice against other people. Maybe they really need your help, without any intention to steal your belongings or to fraud you?
Thank you, my anonymous savior! You proved that people are kind and can help each other!

Your story is really very nice and touching! You shared a lot of experience from your childhood and current life with us, so, I think, your stories can teach us something. I absolutely agree with you that we should be kind to other people because they really may need help. If we start to help other people we become a very good example for imitation for people who have bad attitute to those who try to trust and ask for help from strangers. Thank you very much to that guy who helped you! I`m sure that there are a lot of kind people in the world (and not only male:)) who are ready to help people in need. Well done! Congrats, you completed the half of the big task!)))
