Challenging Task №4

Good afternoon, my devoted readers!

I`m very glad to be here again. You know that new week means new tasks and posts in my blog. So, are you ready?👍 Today I`d like to start with the challenging task №4 from my List of Frightening Behaviours, which you can find here: https://goldenfreckle.blogspot.ru/2018/03/my-list-of-frightening-behaviours.html

This time I had to complete the fourth task - to ask a shop assistant to show a number of items and give a piece of advice about them. Then leave the shop without buying anything.

Frankly speaking, I deal with such situations pretty often, because they`re absolutely natural. I prefer making my choice without any help from the shop assistants, but, of course, sometimes I need their advice. It`s not very frightening for me: after all, it`s their job to help people, to describe different products to them. But when the shop assistant does his/her best and gives you information about 3 or 5 products and you still go away without buying anything - that`s embarrassing for me, really. Of course, it`s a natural situation too. We have our right to go to other shops, to search for the product until we find what we really need. But still many Russian people feel ashamed in these circumstances, because the shop assistant`s spent time on you, he/she`s really tried to please you. It`s about national character, you know. We have this guilt complex about everything. I feel the same mostly all the time. I understand that it`s nothing to be ashamed about, people just do their job, they receive money for that! Still for me it`s much easier to buy something (even if it isn`t exactly what I need, but it`s OK and that`s enough), than to just leave the shop.

But not this time!☝ This week was all about beauty, you know. I`ve read a lot about make-up, different trends in fashion ans things like that. Spring!☺ That`s why I decided to go to the cosmetics shop with my friend Nastya💇
We went to the "Magnet Cosmetics" near our university. The shop was nearly empty - only two of us were there) The shop assistant was very nice and friendly! She told us everything about their special offers and discounts for that day. I asked her to show me some lipsticks which would suit the colour of my skin, hair and so on. She showed me 4 or 5 variants of lipsticks. I asked her for her personal opinion about them. She advized me the second variant and put the lipstick on my hand for me to see the colour better.... It was SO awkward, because she really tried to help me and to find the best variant for me for about 10 minutes! However, it was a challenge, so I apologized and said something like, "Thank you very much for your help, but I need to think about it". The shop assistant smiled and said goodbye, and then we went away.
And you know what? It was absolutely alright! I didn`t offend her or something. It was just MY choice and MY right to make this choice. We definitely must get rid of this stupid guilt complex and be self-confident in all kinds of life situations.
