Classroom Activity
Another post for today is about my second public speech during our oratory course. We had to introduce a classroom activity (to explain how to organize it) to the whole group. All these activities help to prepare our future pupils and students for speaking in public. Each of us had its own card with an activity, which we had to "sell" to the audience, so that they would like it and choose it for their future work. We had to speak for 2 minutes. Unlike the previous double period, here we had some time for preparation. You can see a video of my speech at the top of the page👀
This time we also have to evaluate our speeches. Frankly speaking, I`m not satisfied with it again! It could be much more better because I had an opportunity to think what to say and to pull myself together. I understand that it`s nothing to be afraid of, the audience is very small and I know all the people, but still... I feel VERY nervous. Maybe because of the fact that my speech is recorded. I forget everything which I should say and all English words. That`s really a problem. However, my groupmate Natasha chose my activity! I hope it means that my talk wasn`t too bad))
To evaluate my speech I`d like to write 3 things that I`m proud of and 3 things that were bad.
3 things to be happy with:
+ There was more eye-contact with the audience in comparison with my first speech about winter holidays;
+ I`m still satisfied with the tempo of my speech. I think it`s neither too fast, nor too slow;
+ I tried not only to read the information about an activity from the sheet, but also to develop my own ideas, to give examples and evaluation.
3 things to correct:- I`m very nervous, that`s why my body language looks nervous too;
- I had grammar and lexical mistakes (For example, I said "introduct" instead of "introduce". There isn`t even such a word! That is also because I was nervous);
- I didn`t make my ideas about the activity clear for people: a lot of hesitation, pauses, difficulties in finding right words to express the idea.
